Ex-Texas FBI agent gets prison in NYC for lying

A former Texas FBI agent who was convicted of making false statements about a confidential source after having an intimate relationship with her has been sentenced in New York to a year and a day in prison.

Thirty-eight-year-old Adrian Busby (BUHZ'-bee) of El Paso was sentenced Monday.

Federal sentencing guidelines had called for more than two years in prison, but Judge Harold Baer (BAY'-ur) Jr. chose half of that. He noted that Busby's marriage ended and he must care for three children with medical problems.

Last year, Busby was convicted of four counts of making false statements.

Authorities said Busby had a sexual relationship with the woman in 2008 and 2009 after she became a confidential source. She had been arrested on identity theft and related charges.
